Arrowtongue

Although not the largest of Darwin IV's wildlife, the Tyrannosaurus-sized Arrowtongue is still one of the planet's apex predators. It owes its name to the bright red proboscis on the head of the animal, which stays retracted while at idle/at rest and firing it out to a distance almost twice its body length to impale prey items. After the prey has been taken down, the Arrowtongue injects digestive enzymes, not unlike that of an Earth spider, to turn the insides of victims to liquid to be drank up (most Darwin IV faunal organisms are liquivores).

Expedition and Darwin IV is owned by Wayne Barlowe.
